This program allows skaters to learn the basic skating skills and get an introduction to the Skate Canada test and recreational stream of skating. The objectives of the Junior Starskate program are as follows:
- To provide quality instruction in a group format
- To introduce skaters to the basics of figure skating in a safe and fun environment
- To encourage and identify talented skaters to they have the opportunity to advance in the Skate Canada system of training if they so desire.
Junior Starskate sessions consist of group instruction in each of the three figures skating disciplines: skating skills, ice dance, and freeskate. In skating skills the children learn important fundamental skills such as edges and turns. Ice dance consists of dance patterns done on ice to music, while freeskate consists of jumps, spins, and other skating movements. As an Junior Starskater, your child will get a unique opportunity to experience first-hand what figure skating is all about. He or she will be skating on the ice with other Ardrossan Strathcona Figure Skating Club members.

Twice A Week
Option A: Monday at Ardrossan (4:30 – 5:15 pm) & Thursday at SOC (5:00 – 5:45 pm)
Option B: Wednesday at Ardrossan (4:30 – 5:15 pm) & Thursday at SOC (5:00 – 5:45 pm)
Option C: Thursday at SOC (4:30 – 5:15 pm) & Saturday at SOC (9:45 – 10:30 am)
Once A Week
Option D: Thursdays Only at SOC (4:30 – 5:15 pm)
