About Us:

Ardrossan is a growing community located just a step away from Edmonton, AB with a recently built new rink.   It is very exciting times for our club as we are now in a position to offer two exciting opportunities for coaching - a CanSkate Certified Coach and a Primary StarSkate Trained Coach (minimum) to partner with us to make skating dreams come true for children and adults in the our community.   Positions would commence for September 2018, but planning for growth would occur in the summer.

Requirements:

The successful candidates  will:

Position #1 – CanSkate Certified

  • CanSkate Certified (minimum) (CanSkate Trained may be considered)
  • Ability to provide instruction in all aspects of the CanSkate program
  • Hold a current  Skate Canada Professional Membership
  • Willingness to submit a Criminal Record check
  • Valid First Aid Certificate
  • Background check as per Skate Canada regulations

 

Position #2 – Primary StarSkate Trained (Minimum)

  • NCCP Primary StarSkate Trained Coach (Minimum)
  • Ability to provide instruction in all Skate Canada Programs in both group and private lesson settings (including the new CanSkate Program)
  • Hold a current  Skate Canada Professional Membership
  • Willingness to submit a Criminal Record check
  • Valid First Aid Certificate
  • Background check as per Skate Canada regulations

 

 

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

Implement our Intro to Figure Skating program (Pre-StarSkate Trained), working on group programs with StarSkate and Pre-StarSkate; Both positions would be coaching within our Learn to Skate and CanSkate programs (tasks as needed); providing input for programs; assisting with any skaters that go to test days/competitions (as needed); working with the Executive, Coaches and Parents; provide updates to skaters in all levels; off ice training experience is an asset and other duties as required.

  • Flexible nature resulting in creative skating solutions
  • Outstanding work ethic and commitment to success of the CanSkate and StarSkate Programs
  • Openness to other coaches, parents, skaters, and executive thoughts, comments, and recommendations shared in formal and informal settings
  • Excellent work ethic and good time management skills
  • Willingness to share their experience and recommendations to enable club growth and reputation within the Skate Canada and Ardrossan/Strathcona Communities
  • Ability to provide instruction in all Skate Canada Programs that you are qualified to coach. This can include both group and private lesson settings (including the new CanSkate Program)

 

 

 

Time Commitment:

  • Our Season runs from September to April with approximately 10 hours of ice time per week.  Our high need time is on Monday & Wednesday from 4:30pm – 6:45pm and off ice/dryland training time (date and time to be confirmed).
  • Looking for two coaches for the 2018/2019 season
